Under the dress – Does the grape have a personality?

By Zazie Tavitian
Here it is the vine, the olive trees, the almond trees.
At Domaine Saladin, established since 1422 in Saint-Marcel d´Ardèche, the history of grapes is rooted in the family and in the village. Elisabeth and Marie-Laurence Saladin are at the head of the estate planted with Grenaches (black, white and pink), Syrah, Cinsault, Marsanne and Carignans among others. The choice of these grape varieties is not a simple formality. They must adapt to the terroirs and therefore to the soils, they underline the personality of the winegrowers and even bear witness to their vision of life.
